As we get into autumn I just want to remind our school community to be "Bear Aware." Our students are usually well versed in the ways to be bear aware, but I just wanted you to be alert that our local bears are preparing for their winter slumber. Keeping garbage inside and not putting trash cans out until the day of pick-up is key. If you are out for a hike and you approach a bear, take an alternative route. I have included a message found on the Great Bear Aware.
Welcome to . . .
A fed bear is a dead bear.
Most people are not aware of their role in the destruction of bears. If
humans allow bears to access non-natural food sources such as garbage,
they help to create "problem" bears. In most cases, "problem" bears must
be destroyed because they damage property and are a potential threat to
human safety.
Have a good evening.
Mr. H
