CAREER / JOB FAIR COMING TO THE SUNSHINE COAST

Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, Canada (March 11, 2014) –Open Door Group, Sunshine Coast Tourism and Sechelt Innovations Limited are proud to host a Career and Job Fair on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt. The event is open to all Sunshine Coast businesses and features a number of educational institutions and career pursuits. Attendance is free to the public. Employers will be speaking to candidates 10am-3pm about immediate and future positions.
Open Door Group runs the WorkBC centres in both Gibsons and Sechelt which provide free employment services to unemployed residents on the Sunshine Coast. “We are excited to sponsor this event, as this is an excellent opportunity for job seekers on the Sunshine Coast to network with local employers” says Peri Clark, Open Door Group. Any local job seekers requiring assistance to prepare for the event can drop in to either one of the local centres to access workshops or one-to-one coaching on resume writing, interview preparation, networking skills, and much more. “The tourism and hospitality industry is hiring and we hope to make that process a little easier this spring,” said Celia Robben, president of Sunshine Coast Tourism. A variety of local businesses are taking resumes and speaking with potential employees regarding immediate and upcoming positions. Post-secondary educational institutions will also be on hand to discuss programs of study.
“Retaining and strengthening existing businesses is a key part of our mandate,” stated Dave Jephcott, Sechelt Innovations Manager of Business Development. “Helping employers find the right employees lets them focus on serving customers and growing their businesses.”
